*This is a special Salt event, and Bergman’s teleplay is long. We welcome our audience to come and go as they please. We’ll be serving refreshments of all sorts between Scenes 2 and 3; and then again between Scenes 5 and 6. Please join us for the whole event, see only one segment, or come and go all day - it’s your choice!

Thomas Jay Ryan

THOMAS JAY RYAN most recently appeared in new york in the world premiere of craig lucas' new play THIS THING OF DARKNESS (at the atlantic theatre company). other recent theatre credits include: JUNO AND THE PAYCOCK(roundabout theatre), THE PHILADELPHIA STORY (hartford stage company), HEDDA GABLER (shakespeare theatre, washington d.c.), suzan-lori parks' VENUS (new york shakespeare festival), SOON (salzburg theatre festival), AS YOU LIKE IT (guthrie theatre), as well as leading roles in two of richard foreman's plays at the ontological-hysteric theatre. his film credits include the title role in hal hartley's HENRY FOOL, THE BOOK OF LIFE, THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE, TEKNOLUST (opening in february), and edgar degas in the HBO telefilm DEGAS AND THE DANCER (for which he was nominated for a gemini award for best actor).

Maria Striar

Maria Striar has appeared in the Salt theater productions of The Cherry Orchard, Stage Door, and Inky (a Clubbed Thumb co-production). She is a founding member and co-director of Clubbed Thumb, which produces new plays by living American writers. For Clubbed Thumb she has performed in Red Death, U.S. Drag, Medea Eats, Inky, Pastorale and Summer Play, and directed Downwinders, Pricked, The Professional Frenchman and Marie and Bruce. Other Downtown appeareances include roles in The Holy Mother of Hadley New York (New Georges), From the Hip (Blair Fell), South, Brass Ankle, The Nutcracker (Target Margin).

Laura Flanagan

Laura Flanagan has also appeared in Salt Theater productions as Anya in THE CHERRY ORCHARD and Terry Randall in the workshop production of STAGE DOOR. Other NYC credits include, Target Margin Theater, HERE, Soho Rep, 72nd St. Lab, Access Theater and what was once The House of Candles. Regional credits include Juliet at NJ Shakespeare Festival, The Magic Theater, Williamstown Theater Festival. Laura is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon's Moscow Art Theater School and Yale College.

Carol Florence

Carol is new to NY, but not new to the stage. She has acted in Philadelphia for many years in such roles as a Bosnian refugee and a holocaust survivor in new plays, as well as the nurse in Romeo and Juliet, the mother in Buried Child and Six Characters in Search of an Author, Volumnia in Coriolanus, the Duchess of York in Richard III, and many others. On film, she played the lead scientist in "Twelve Monkeys," and, most recently, a doctor in the new J-Lo vehicle, "Jersey Girl." She loves New York and hopes New York loves her!

Darius Stone, has worked with many theater companies in NYC including; Target Margin, La Mama, Inverse Theater, Lincoln Center, The Worth Street Theater, The Public Theater NYSF, The Foundry Theater, Salt Theater, New Georges, HERE, NADA, The Ohio Theatre/Soho Think Tank. Regionally at Shakespeare Santa Cruz, The Folger Shakespeare Library & The Source Theater (Washington DC), The Shenandoah Shakespeare, Cafe Voltaire & the Folio Theatre Co. (Chicago). Inernationally at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Neuss Globe Theatre (Neuss Germany), Paris & Ottowa. TV & Film include HBO's comedy short series The Real Joke, Nipply Ray for Passport Films & A Beautiful Mind.

Katherine Profeta

Katherine Profeta (dramaturg) is a founding member and Choreographer with Elevator Repair Service, and can currently be seen performing in their Room Tone at PS 122, through late November. She has a MFA in dramaturgy and has taught movement classes and dance/theater history at Barnard and Yale. Other projects include dramaturgy on Karin Coonrod's Julius Caesar, dramaturgy on Ralph Lemon's Geography trilogy, and something inventive and movement-oriented with director Annie Dorsen. She is pleased as punch to be working with Salt Theater again, after all the fun that was had with last year's Cherry Orchard.
